What Get's Checked when Screening?

Credit Checks (UK)

  • Current and previous address checks.
  • Electoral roll.
  • County Court judgements and bankruptcies.
  • Directorships.
  • Overseas credit checks are also available as required. Individual costs vary according to the country but approval will always be obtained prior to commencing.



Employment History (for a period of 5/10 years)

Attendance at an educational institute maybe included if it is to cover a period within the 5/10 years where there was no employment.

  • Dates of employment.
  • Position held.
  • Assessment of job performance.
  • Standard of work (quality and quantity)
  • Customer service.
  • Relations with fellow employees.
  • Views on honest & trustworthiness and reliability & conscientiousness.
  • Any disciplinary action in the past or pending.
  • Attendance.
  • Day’s absent in the last 12 months.
  • Reason for leaving.
  • Was he or she been dismissed from your employ?
  • Salary on leaving.
  • Summary of nature of applicant’s duties.


Character references (From acceptable professional)

Referee must have known the candidate for at least 3 years and still are in contact

Clarify the capacity in which the referee knows the candidate.

Areas to be clarified are:

  • Reliability
  • Friendliness and rapport
  • Emotional stability

Referee cannot be a family member (Close or extended)

Referee must state his position/profession




Education Verification.

  • Confirmation of actual dates of attendance.
  • Confirmation of highest qualification.
  • Confirmation of grades achieved.
  • Confirmation of disciplinary record.



Professional Bodies

  • Name of the body
  • Date membership commenced.
  • Level of membership



UK Eligibility for employment.

  • This can be added if required

Additional costs

Please note that in all levels of screening, if there are more than 6 references to obtain, we will charge an additional £5 for each additional enquiry.

Overseas credit, bankruptcy, voters roll, address and directorship checks. It may be necessary to make such checks through approved agents. Authorisation will be received from the client before any costs are incurred. Prices vary depending on the country.

Examination Boards – it is not always possible to verify qualifications from schools and colleges. Some Examination boards now charge fees and approval will be sought before enquiries are made.

Statutory Declarations may be required in some circumstances (if personal referee’s are not available to confirm periods of unemployment etc). There would be an additional charge to prepare this document, which needs to be signed by the applicant in the presence of a Solicitor. (The Solicitor would also charge a fee to witness the signature)
